Detroit News’ Doug Guthrie recently took the Dodge Charger Sport with AWD out for a spin and reported back with a favorable opinion.
A square-shouldered, full-size brute with a wing on the back like the Dodge Charger SXT didn’t seem like a logical choice to drive across Michigan into a snowstorm. But the 2013 Dodge Charger Sport package with its highly evolved all-wheel-drive system is the equivalent of a snowmobile with classic American muscle car looks.
I haven’t had an opportunity to test an AWD Dodge Charger myself, but would like to take it down one of our snow and ice filled Minnesota roads. Personally, I also prefer rear-wheel drive vehicles with good stability controls and automatic throttle reduction in snow and ice conditions. With just a boost of the throttle in a slippery corner, you can drift the rear-end around and point the front in a controlled forward direction…no front-wheel drive plowing.
If you live in a climate where snow and ice are part of your life, I would suggest reading his opinion and giving us your thoughts.
